  1. Note that SAM v3.0 is System 7.0 compatible.  Symantec has warned, however, that due to the fact that System 7.0 is not final, SAM v3.0 under 7.0 may still have some bugs until 7.0 is released as final.   When 7.0 is released as final, a newer SAM (possibly v3.0.1) will be released correcting any outstanding bugs in SAM v3.0 under System 7.0.

  4. SAM v3.0 has the following new features as listed in the new manual:

  6. 1.  Faster Scanning:  SAM Virus Clinic's background scanning under MultiFinder is faster than SAM Virus Clinc v2.0.x scanning in the foreground.  In addition, SAM Intercept's Floppy Scan has been enhanced.

  8. 2.  Separate Virus Definition File: The SAM Virus Definitions file is separate from SAM.  When new viruses are discovered, the file is updated, and you can download the file from the Symantec BBS (Bulletin Board Service) and protect your system by replacing the old copy with the most recent).

  10. 3.  Display Current Virus Definitions:  SAM Virus Clinic lets you view all virus names in the SAM Virus Definitions file.

  12. 4. Expaneded Hot Key Scanning:  You can define hot keys to scan a preselected folder, volume, or removable; or select a file, a folder, or a volume (System 7) to scan while working in any application.

  14. 5.  Auto-Disinfects Infected Destop Files:  SAM Intercept automatically disinfects infected desktop files.

  16. 6.  Timed Macros:  Set the time you want a macro to scan, and it runs at that time.

  18. 7.  Disallow Insert of All Floppy Disks:  Any floppy disk that is inserted is automatically ejected

  20. 8.  Scan a Volume in the SAM Interecept cdev:  You can scan a mounted volume from the SAM Interecept cdev without starting SAM Virus Clinic.

  22. 9.  Configurable Floppy Scan Alert:  You can decide whether the Scan or Skip button is the default button in the Floppy Scan dialog box.

  24. 10.  Choose a Sound for Infection Alert:  SAM Interecept let you select which sound is played when the Infection Alert appears.

  26. 11.  Full Virus Protection Running Under System 7:  SAM is not only compatible with System 7 but provides full virus protection when running under System 7.  In addition, it takes advantage of System 7 features, such as Apple events and balloon help.

  28. 12.  SAM Interecept Jr.:  Provides run-time scanning if you have a system with a limited amount of memory or disk space.  SAM Interecept Jr. detect known viruses and will not let you proceed if a virus is found.
